ABOUT THE EVENT:
What is the Off To Prom Event?

It is a custom, one-of-a-kind prom-themed event that was voted on and customized by high school students in the winning city. Students nationwide voted for the chance for their city to win this dream prom event with social media influencers, Baby Ariel & Daniel Skye, and a special performance by GRAMMY Award-winning artist, Daya.

What is an OTP?

OTP = ‘One True Pair’

OTP can be your best friend, significant other, new friend or partner in crime. An OTP is a favorite combination of two people.

How did Houston win?

For the past two months, high school students nationwide have had the opportunity to vote via social media hashtags #myjourneysotp and #zipcode, and online surveys to win the ultimate prom event for their city. Houston had the most engagement and has been announced as the winning city for this one-of-a-kind prom-themed event.

How are Journeys and Converse involved?

Journeys teamed up with Converse to put the power in students’ hands nationwide to create and win a custom, one-of-a-kind prom-themed event for their city. The Journeys Off To Prom Event powered by Converse will bring a new, unique, and inclusive prom experience to students this May.

Who’s involved?

The event will be hosted by music and social media stars Baby Ariel and Daniel Skye. GRAMMY Award-winning artist Daya, known for hit songs “Sit Still, Look Pretty” and “Hide Away” will perform. The additional prom elements have been customized and selected by the students, including décor, food, and activities.

Who is Daya?

Daya is a GRAMMY Award-winning singer songwriter from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She released her self-titled debut album in 2015 which included her first hit song, “Hide Away.” She released her debut studio album Sit Still, Look Pretty in October 2016.

Who is Baby Ariel?

Long before emerging as the world-renowned “Queen of Gen Z,” Baby Ariel fell in love with music and performing as a child. It was in 2015 at her grandparents’ house she downloaded musical.ly. By 2017, the 16-year-old had become a worldwide phenomenon. Quietly building a cumulative audience of 33 million-plus, she garnered a Wall Street Journal, “Innovator Honor,” and received “Choice Muser” at the Teen Choice Awards two straight years in a row, adorned the cover of Billboard Magazine, graced TIME’s “25 Most Influential People on the Internet” list, made the Forbes “Top Influencers 2017: Entertainment” list, co-headlined the sold-out DigiTour, and garnered nominations at the iHeartRadio Music Awards, People’s Choice Awards, Streamy Awards, and more.

Who is Daniel Skye?

Daniel Skye is a singer songwriter and social media sensation with over 36 million streams on Spotify and over 23 million views on YouTube. Raised in Hollywood, Florida and now an LA resident, Daniel has dedicated the last 3 years of his life to music, and has amassed an extraordinary amount of popularity online, with over 6 million followers combined on his social platforms, Daniel has sold over 200,000 singles on iTunes independently.

TICKETING:
Are tickets free?

Yes, tickets are free but you must RSVP through journeys.com/otp to attend.

*Admission is granted on a first come, first serve basis – so remember to arrive early!

Is there an age restriction?

Yes, you must be a high school student between the ages of 13 to 19-years-old to attend the event.

*13 to17-year-olds must have parent approval prior to securing tickets and 18 to 19-year-olds must show a valid government issued photo ID and/or student ID.

How can I attend the prom?

Students in Houston who voted to win will receive an email to RSVP. For those who missed out on voting in March, but would like to attend, can RSVP for themselves and their OTP (one true pair) at journeys.com/OTP.

How will I get my tickets?

You will reserve your tickets through a ticketing platform called Eventbrite. Once you fill out the required information, you will receive a confirmation email from Eventbrite confirming the number of ticket(s) you secured. Barcodes/ tickets will be distributed to your email the week of the event.

Can I pick up my tickets in advance?

No.

Can I transfer my tickets if I’m unable to attend?

No. If you cannot attend, please notify us so we can cancel your tickets and issue them to another student.

How many tickets can I get?

There is a limit of two (2) tickets per person. One for you and one for your OTP.

I didn’t get tickets to the event.

Unfortunately you need tickets secured through journeys.com/OTP and meet the age requirement in order to attend this event.

PROM EVENT:
What if I need an ADA assistance?

If you are in a wheelchair, require the use of a walker, or have knee, leg, feet, heart, breathing, or any other conditions that will not allow for over exertion and you receive a ticket confirmation and need details on ADA accessibility, please contact (615) 921-8710.

What time is the event?

The event starts at 6:00pmCT and concludes at 9:00pmCT.

What do I need to wear?

Outfit is totally up to you. No tux or fancy prom dresses required.
*Don't forget your Chucks! Surprises in store for guests wearing Converse footwear!

What do I need to get into the show?

You will need to present your ticket prior to entering the event. Tickets can be presented printed or digitally.
*Present a valid government issued photo ID and/or student ID, if applicable.
*Submit a signed waiver to intern@flytevu.com or bring a hard copy with you to present at check-in. (The waiver was sent via email to everyone who RSVP'd)

Is there food available?

Yes, there will be pizza and additional food at no cost to the attendees.

Can I use my phone/camera to take pictures/video during the event?

Yes.

Can parents stay at the venue during the duration of the prom-themed event?

Yes, parents of 13-17 year-olds are able to stay nearby during the event.
We've reserved space at Holler Brewing Co. which is located in the same parking lot area as Silver Street Studios.

Are there things we cannot bring?

The following is a list of items that are not allowed in the venue:

  • Alcohol or drugs
  • Outside food or drinks
  • Pets, radios, video games, laser pointers, or musical instruments
  • Weapons or fireworks
  • Cigarettes, cigars or chewing tobacco. This venue is a tobacco free environment.
License; Ejection and Cancellation; No Redemption Value

Event Providers reserve the right, without refund of any amount paid, to refuse admission to, or eject, any person whose conduct management deems disorderly, who uses vulgar or abusive language or who fails to comply with Event Provider rules. A ticket is not redeemable for cash.

Recording, Transmission and Exhibition

You agree that the event for which you purchase tickets is a public event, that your appearance and actions inside and outside the venue where the event occurs are public in nature, and that you have no expectation of privacy regarding your actions or conduct at the event. You grant permission to us and the Event Provider(s) to utilize your name, image, likeness, acts, poses, plays, appearance, movements, and statements in any live or recorded audio, video, or photographic display or other transmission, exhibition, publication or reproduction made of, or at, the event (regardless of whether before, during or after play or performance) for any purpose, in any manner, in any medium or context now known or hereafter developed, without further authorization from, or compensation to, you or anyone acting on your behalf.

You Are Subject to Search

You and your belongings may be searched on entry to the event. You consent to such searches and waive any related claims that may arise. If you elect not to consent to such searches, you may be denied entry to the event. Under certain facility rules, certain items may not be brought into the premises, including without limitation, alcohol, drugs, controlled substances, cameras, recording devices, laser pointers, strobe lights, irritants (e.g., artificial noisemakers), bundles and containers.
